🚗 Basic Car Confidence Workshop Open Day

Saturday 6th September – Our First Event Was a Huge Success!

At Hoyles, we've proudly served Todmorden and the surrounding communities for over 50 years. As a female-owned and family-run garage, we've built a reputation for trust, especially among women who feel confident bringing their vehicles to us. Over the past two decades, we've seen a growing number of women asking for a workshop to learn basic car maintenance skills—and boost their confidence behind the wheel.

What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something bigger. Customers began saying,

“My teenager is learning to drive—could they join too?” “My husband would love to learn more!”

So we thought: why not open it up to everyone? Young, old, new customers, loyal regulars, and curious passersby—this event was for you all.

🎉 What We Did

We rolled up our sleeves and got to work planning a day to remember. Thanks to the generosity of our suppliers, we packed goody bags full of treats. A special shoutout to Napa and Millers Oils for their fantastic contributions!

Louie brought in the fabulous Nowhere to Bean, a local coffee trailer that served up free drinks and cakes all day long. It was a hit!

Meanwhile, our superstar mechanics Gavin and Nathan each had a vehicle on a ramp and led hands-on demonstrations. Guests learned how to:

• Change a tyre
• Replace bulbs
• Check oil levels
• Swap out wiper blades

The groups were fully engaged, asking questions, getting involved, and soaking up every bit of knowledge.
