Charity & Community Support: A Legacy of Giving at Hoyles of Todmorden
At Hoyles of Todmorden, community isn’t just a word—it’s a commitment woven into the fabric of everything we do. As a long-established family business with deep roots in Todmorden and beyond, supporting charitable causes has always been part of our story.
From day one, our family has believed in giving back. Whether it’s helping local schools or championing national causes, we’ve always aimed to go the extra mile—not just for our customers, but for our entire community.
A Family Legacy of Kindness
“Our Grandad Dennis set the tone early on,” says Alex.
“When Louie and I were students at Todmorden High School, he donated a minibus to help the school run trips, sports fixtures, and more. We saw first-hand the impact that kind of support had—not just on the school, but on families across the area. We were incredibly proud to be his grandchildren.”
That spirit of generosity continued through Dennis, Shirley, and Bev, who supported numerous causes over the years—none closer to their hearts than Children with Cancer UK. The Hoyles family's consistent support even drew the attention of celebrity patrons like:
-
Joanna Lumley
-
Ant & Dec
-
Chris Tarrant
-
Lennox Lewis
-
Frank Bruno
-
Holly Willoughby
-
Paul McCartney
Each sent personal thank-you letters and signed photos—heartfelt recognition of a cause truly close to our hearts.
Supporting Local Heroes and Causes
Today, Bev and Louie proudly carry on that tradition. Every year, Hoyles supports a variety of local and national charities, making it a point to say “yes” whenever they can—because they’ve never forgotten the people who’ve supported them over the years.
Some of the organisations we’ve supported in the last 12 months include:

Backing the Next Generation of Champions
We’re especially proud to sponsor local motorsport prodigy Peter Webster, who began karting in 2022 at Teamkarting in Rochdale and has already made national headlines. In 2024, Peter was named SuperOne R200 National Champion, collecting his trophy at Kartmania at Silverstone.
